Crafty Goodness! Love this first display. I have quite a few favorite Christmas cards I have collected over the years, including one from Brian my brother. Wouldn't it be neat to add embellished old photos of ancestors after the Christmas Season is over. A few of these displays would work well for that and decorating for family reunions. Just change the colors and foliage. But I think evergreens work well all winter long =)

I like how the transcription of the clipping over this picture of the New River turned out. I gave the photo a grunge, vintage look then added some old hooks to the boarder.

How To Watermark Your Images

So you have some pictures on your blog you want to protect with a watermark. Watermarking your photos is pretty easy. When you upload photos directly to your blog they are are stored in your Picasa account automatically. I upload them first to Picasa and watermark them before I add them to my blog. Here is how you do it.
1. Upload photo to selected album in Picasa
2. Click on picture you want to edit
3. Click "Edit" in Picsa, a small drop down menu should then appear.
4. Click, Edit in Picnik. Another window should open loading Picnik.
5. Click the "Create" tab and then the "Text" tab near the top.
6. Type the text you want to display on your image in the box in the upper left hand corner, click the "Add" button. From here you can play with font style and text color, along with size and fading
7. Click save to my album. I like to save it as "A New Copy" just in case I want to do further editing.

This year our families have had quite a few College and High School Graduations.Including my cousin Daniel's Graduation from College, he is blogging about HERE. Congrats Daniel and great job on your blog!

While searching I have come across several whole year books published. In those I found many photos of an Uncle and of my Aunts. I have a couple of my Mothers and Fathers years books I want to scan, transcribe, and put online to share, added to my to do list. On top of my ever growing "to do" list. I have been busy trying to document all of May events and as usual time passes so fast and the month is over before I know what happened. Tutorial Tuesday ~ Blog Makeover Adding A "Blinky" ~

Adding a blinkie to your blog is easy peasy. All you need is a basic image editing program and an image of your liking. I used Microsoft paint, version 5.1 that came with my laptop. The first step is to create your image "slides", each image will be the blink your to blinkie. I created 8 slides/individual images for the "Email Me " blinkie at the bottom of this post. The 7th slide I added twice when I made the gif.

. Most blinkies are 150x50 plx. The size of my images are 500 x 250 plx and I found this easier to work in and add text. You will be able to play around with the size to fit your side bar when you make the gif at Picasion.

Next go to Picasion and upload your images in the order you want. Then resize them to fit your side bar by clicking custom on the "size" option. I set my size to 220 after playing around a bit. After you have your size and speed you think you want click create animation and a gif. will be generated for you along with a code for you to add a HTML gadget into your side bar or blog post..

Happy New Year everyone. This year is starting off a bit behind for me, on posting and answering comments. As some of you may know I am disabled and it takes me quite a bit longer to get things done, especially when I have a flare up. If you would like to know more you can read about it here. The post below was supposed to be posted on the first of this year. Sorry Paw Paw I was a bit late with the birthday wishes on my blog. I did call on the phone and wish him one (smile).
I have several posts planned Including a video Justin shot of my mothers house at Christmas. Her home was on the Holiday Parade of Homes in Ormond Beach Florida. I had also had planned on making a slideshow of my tree and the Photo Christmas Tag ornaments I made this year. Hopefully I will find time to finish that up this week and post it. I have a tutorial all ready to post tomorrow as promised to one of my readers. I have to do something positive to take my mind off the patch they used to repair my hernia being recalled. Yes I plan on getting in on the class action suit. I'm not excited about getting in on the class action suit and dealing with more doctors and now lawyers.

Frank S. Adkins Obituary

I'm am so sorry to hear of uncle Franks passing. One of my fondest childhood memories is of him was at my uncle Dan's and aunt Sarah's wedding when he asked me to dance. It was the first time I had ever been asked to dance by anyone. Boy could he bust a move (smile).

Frank S. Adkins

PRINCETON — Frank S. Adkins, 83, of Princeton, W.Va., formerly of Northfork, W.Va., passed away quietly at his home on December 14, 2010.

Born May 11, 1927 in Algoma, W.Va., he was the son of the late Walter Adkins and Alice (Goad) Adkins.

Frank was a retired coal miner, last employed by Eastern Associated Coal of Keystone. He was a member of Green View United Methodist Church in Green Valley. He was a member of the UMWA, Princeton Moose Lodge, Princeton Elks Lodge and the Shrines.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine (Beverly) Adkins; two brothers, Raymond Adkins and Walter Adkins, Jr.; two sisters, Lois Haga and Lilly Mae Bailey; and one granddaughter, Amber Adkins.

Frank will be sadly missed by his daughter, Pamela Brown, husband David of Princeton, W.Va.; one son, Larry Adkins, wife Donna of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Matthew Brown of Princeton, W.Va., Adam and Aaron Adkins, of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Charles Adkins, of Princeton, W.Va., William McKinley Adkins, of Bristol, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Brackens, of Wytheville, Va., Catherine Mercer of Bristol, Tenn.; and one great-grandchild.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with funeral service starting at 12:00 p.m. with the Reverend Brent Brown officiating.

The Family "Christmas" Tree Project

Wow you have to take a look over at the memorial tags Gini at has been blogging about Ginisology.. They are just lovely. Such a wonderful job she did and what a great idea to have a tree dedicated to those who have passed on but not forgotten. What a loving tribute. She started her a photo memorial tree about three years ago. Which she keeps in her kitchen during the holidays. Click here to see a picture of Gini's sweet, decorated paper photo frames.

I found some small white paper frames at the dollar store in the bridal section awhile back. They hold a wallet sized picture and are six for a dollar. I couldn't pass them up, they have too much creative potential . I was planning on using them as a 3 dimensional element on the front some small photo albums that i was going to recover. Never thought of doing something Christmassy with them. Thanx bunches Gini for the inspiration. Also you see in the middle of the picture some paper poinsettias and snowflakes. They are holiday table scatter from Target. You get about fifty each for two dollars and they are made of card stock!

Letters to Santa Advent Calendar

Did you know that if you put a stamp on your letter to Santa and mail it to the North Pole you will get one mailed back from him in return? And how do I know this? Because I am married to a mailman. I also know that once a year all letter carriers get to deliver mail to the North Pole.

Every Christmas Justin would eagarly write his letter to Santa and have his father personally deliver it to the North Pole Post Office. It's just sheer luck that Michaels turn to deliver mail is always around Christmas time.

The Family "Christmas" Tree Project Part 3

Yeah! Almost finished with the tree! It took me all of the weekend before Thanksgiving to get it ready to decorate. I placed a large piece of white fleece to simulate snow and help visually. I also placed a vintage aluminium sink/tub under the tree. The tree kept leaning because the flooring differences. So I wedged cardboard underneath the linoleum side to level it out. I'm really pleased the rustic planted look of it.

I decorated the family photo hang tags with a, vintage, winter feel but, think beyond that when decorating your genealogy ornaments. I can see these be used at any family gathering, reunions, older generation birthdays and anniversaries. I think they also would look wonderful hanging stair rails, on garlands or even as bunting.

There are more tags to be made but I think its looking quite pretty. Very few of the Christmas decorations I already have that match the antique whites, gold, and sliver theme of the tree. I thought I would leave those off so you can see what it could look like for a different family gathering.

I batted around whether or not to use the vintage taffeta seam binding as hangers or the original strings. I was worried it would look to busy. But the taffeta slipped over the branches more easily than the strings. I recommend gluing your hanger to the back because the tag holes tend to weaken over time. These are meant to be turned around to read the hand written information on the back about the relative in the photo.

I decorated and added some of the family's old baby spoons to the tree. I have a few pairs of baby shoes I am thinking of adding as well. A tree topper is in the planning stages. I will say it will most likely involve old book pages or sheet music. Also a We Are Family garland.

PS. Sorry for the fuzzy photos. I just didnt want to postpone this post anymore. I spent all week taking pics in different light and different times of the day. I just couldn't seem to get one snapped right.

100th COG ~ There Is One In Every Family ~

Every family , if they are lucky, has that one special pet. That special one that out shinned those that proceeded him and the ones that will come after will never quite compare. One that you would swear, understood every thing you said to them. Obeyed every request willingly and with great joy. One that breaks your heart to watch grow old and pass away.

Trying to decide who would fit into our family is not an easy task. Justin didn't seem care for the noise and was apprehensive about getting close to the pens to get a better look. The pound was unusually noisy on this spring morning. Michael seemed to really like the quite and shy beagle by the doorway. I wanted to take home everyone I saw. It makes me sad to see so many without a home and love. With tear stained eyes I walked down looking in the cages at each sweet furry face, I heard this , "yip yip yip" over all the other woofs, barks and howls. Interest peaked I went to investigate. There in the morning light was this medium sized dog, pouncing on dapples of light reflecting from and in his water dish. I giggled at how he tried to capture the airborne water droplets from his dance with the buzzing specks of light. Michael pauses trying to coax Justin into having a look at the beagle and asked "What are you giggling about?", "I think I found our dog" I said.

.As we were filling out his adoption papers, the ladies at the shelter were asking, what I thought were, unusual questions. Like do you have a fenced in back yard? Yes I said, how long will he be alone during the day? Not long at all, I am a stay home Mom, "Is there a particular reason why? I asked, looking puzzled. "Well"....She said " Your the third family to adopt him and he was set to be put to sleep at the end of the week".

We brought him home from the animal shelter two days later. April 9th, I remember the date because its my brother Brian's birthday. Brian had passed away that February. Since this was our little family's first dog, Michael and I decided to let Justin name him. We had been suggesting names during those couple of days preparing our home for our new family member. The pervious owners had named him tanner, and that name just didn't seem to fit him. He wasn't actually tan, he has some tan marking but his coat was red and his muzzle was dark brown. And isn't a tanner someone who tans animal hides? I asked Justin "How about Scooby or Rocket as a name? He sure was lighting fast when we let him lose in the back yard and you love Scooby Doo. he shook his head no, " I don't like those" Up until that time we had called Justin "Buddy" or "Little Buddy" , which my brother preferred to use. "I like Buddy as his name" He said.

Over the years the name fit him to a tee. Buddy was a buddy to us all. He followed me everywhere, he loved to garden with me. I would point to a spot in the garden and tell him to dig me a hole. Of course I strongly hinted that there was some critter in the dirt for him to get down there. He would never get into my Flower beds unless I allowed him. In the front yard he would sit while I gardened with his back to me looking up and down the street protecting me. He never left the yard without permission. He would look both ways for cars before crossing the street .Through all my surgery recoveries he wouldn't leave my side. The last one, I was in the hospital for almost two months and he wouldn't leave the front door waiting for me to come home. He would climb trees, kill snakes in the garden, chase squirrels, and even tried to climb out of the car window once to hunt one down. He liked cats and would try and make friends but if they swatted, then it was on. Soon Buddy became Nutty Buddy. He was crazy when he was a pup and so much fun.

When we first brought Buddy home we noticed some odd behaviors. He would cower on the floor when we came home, he was afraid of the his hairbrush, and when he dreamed he didn't sleep run or yip at squirrels in his sleep but would wine and cry and wince. I also noticed one of his ribs was sticking out funny when I bathed him. We began to realize one or more of the previous owners had abused him. It was heart breaking to us. How could someone do that to him. I still cannot wrap my mind around it. I don't think any of us can.

Every one who had met Buddy loved him. My friends and family, the neighbors loved him, the kids at school would go crazy over him when I would drop Justin off in the morning. Heck even my father adored him, who isn't a pet person. And as the years moved on Buddy started to slow down and his once dark muzzle had turned to gray. His eyes started drooping and he didn't seem to want to chase squirrels in the morning anymore. He would sit at his plexiglass dogie door and sleep in the sunshine while the squirrels got away with murder in my garden. He would tire quickly during the before bedtime romp with Michael. Buddy had turned into an old man.

Last Christmas Buddy stopped eating his dry food. I thought it was his teeth and I tried every kind of soft dry food. I even tried the canned food, which gave him awful gas. So we took "Old Fart" to the Vet. "Teeth are fine he is just getting old" the vet said "Try wetting his dry food. Also his heart murmur isn't helping, make sure he can rest quietly as well" By February he was drinking a ton of water, and what Buddy did eat he spit up. We became extremely concerned when he had trouble keeping down even my oxtail soup, one of his favorites. It was all I could do get him to eat. All he would do is drink and would lay in the bed all day. We prepared for worst and I took him back to the vet. His sugar was lethally high at124, and had lost ten pounds. While waiting for the blood test to come back, he vomited up what the vet said was a tumor. Buddy had pancreas cancer and it had spread into his stomach. He was extremely sick and wasn't going to last much longer. The vet took pity and gave him something for the nausea and a shot of insulin so Justin and Michael could see him when they got home before we had to take him back to the vet that evening. All three of us along with Steve, a close family friend and buddy fan. We said our good byes and stayed until the end. We were blessed to have had him 11 years.

Buddy is buried at our home in Florida, in the back yard three feet from the eastern back fence. In his memory we are planning a bird and butterfly garden over where he rests. Photograph is my personal property.

I have wanted to write about Buddy many times since his death but it has been just too painful. Thank you Creative Gene for this 100th COG topic. It gave me a reason to write about our Buddy and how much he means to us. And thank you to all my readers as well for allowing me to share.

This time of year I get the itch to start my decorating and crafting for Christmas. Even more so now, since its been unusually cool for Florida this season. Traditionally I put our Christmas tree, up every Thanksgiving weekend. I take great joy in our tree, inspecting each bulb and sharing the wonderful memories they bring forth. This year I'm breaking with tradition and and putting it up one weekend early. I'm just giddy with excitement and don't want to wait till next weekend to share my newest crafting project. A genealogy Christmas tree,inspired by a photo I saw in last years December issue of Country Living Magazine. I thought was just simply charming, and what a wonderful way to share your family history with the whole family. So, I have been distressing and staining hang tags along with white card stock to print out black and white family photos on. Making it all vintage looking. On the back of each tag, hand written information on that relative, where the photo was taken, when and where they were born and the like.

Family Tree Freebies "How To Document Images You Find Online"

Many of the genealogy documents I post are from web sources. Documenting when and where I find an image, such as a census record, is extremely important. I am going to show you a very easy way to do this.

First save your image. In this case a census record. Right click it and to the appropriate file. You can rename it anything you want as your saving it.

Next thing you want to do is copy the web address. I usually cut and paste so I make sure I get the whole address.

Now go back and right click the census image and click save image again. But don't save it again! That will take you directly to the file where you just saved your census record . Find the image you just saved and right click that, click properties.

There should be two tabs at the top. One says "General" and the other "Summary". Notice. "General" tells you type of file, the location on your hard drive, how big it is, the day it was created and the last date it was last accessed. The dated it was created will tell you when you found and saved the image.

Ok so now what you want to do is click "Summary". Right click and paste the link where you found your image in the "Comments". Links may be very long and can get cut off if you paste it into the smaller boxes. Click apply and then ok. Now anytime you want to know the web site, where you found your image you can find it easy peasy by going back on your hard drive and right clicking the image.

Note if you cannot access the "Summary" tab on a saved image, go back as if your going to save it and right click the image and click copy image then paste it into your paint program and save it again as your own file. Then you will be able to add to the "Summary"

The picture below shows me and my grandfather standing by between my grandparents house and their creek. As you can see I was ready to go swimming.Good Lord I was so skinny and fair, well I am still fair (laughs).

When my mother gave me this picture, I freaked. If you look closely you can see a small bulge right above my belly button. Right there is where one of my current hernias is! From what I understand hernias along with gal bladder problems run on my Mothers side of the family and serious digestive problems, also run on my Fathers side. My Fathers Mother died from cancer of the esophagus from acid reflux. Anyone else find common health problems in families when doing their genealogy?

Ever procrastinate? I have a bad case of the "I'll get around to its" and sometimes,.. I just don't want to deal with it. Boy if I got paid to run a blog I sure would be fired by now. Then again if I did get paid I would have a good reason to get around to other things and blog more. I have wanted to post lots of neato stuff I have been coming across but I felt that I should post about what’s going on with me first, "when I get around to it". Before I get into all of that, I first want to apologize to my friends and followers for being quite for so long. And I want to thank you for your comments and emails of encouragement, and I will do my best to answer them. You are all heartfully appreciated.

As some of you know I attempted to combine the three blogs I have/had to reduce stress. HA! Since then a dear friend of mine has encouraged me to write about my disability and combine only two of my blogs. I have recently accepted that, yes I am disabled and will be probably for the rest of my life. Unknown to anyone I was born with an abnormally short esophagus and a defect in my diaphragm. This came to light in my late twenties with bad acid reflux. See where your stomach and esophagus meet there is a valve. This valve broke just didn't not work anymore. I will spare you the gory details but boy was it bad. I lost my voice totally at one point and have a good deal of scar tissue from it. This is when the doctors found my first hernia.

My diaphragm had a tare where my esophagus and stomach meet. Through this tare my stomach was bulging up into my chest cavity, causing a hiatal hernia. So surgery was in order. One of the complications of this procedure is you become unable to burp or vomit. It’s physically impossible. See in order to fix acid reflux they take your stomach and wrap it around where it meets with your esophagus and stitch it in place to create a new value so things go down but nothing comes back up including acid reflux.

I will save you a long story getting even longer by saying: I have since had several other major surges including, a partial hysterectomy at 36 and a year later, another hiatal hernia another reflux surgery, my diaphragm practically replaced, and my gal bladder removed. The later I had done all at one time. This surgery, due to bad scar tissue, they had to make a 14 inch incision on my abdomen and spent almost two months in the hospital.

Where am I now with my health? Well I currently have another hiatal hernia and another by my bellybutton right near last incision scar is. My digestive tract has been so traumatized that it is slow to work and unpredictable. When it does work the scar tissue from these surgeries cause me a great deal of pain. So basically I live my life around it.

In 1820 Joseph Ball Sr. was living in Pearisburg, Giles County, Virginia with his second wife Catherine (Comer) Ball. Along their first four children and the three from Joseph's first marriage with Elizabeth Phillips. Two of these seven children's names are unknown at this time, one being his first born son. Now I read somewhere that, then, it was a tradition to name the first born child after the Grandparents and the second born after the parents. Jos and Catherine seemed to follow this tradition with their children but naming the first born son Augustus after her Father and Joseph H Ball Jr. was their second born son. Could the Unknown Male Ball have his Grandfather's name thus revealing who Joseph Ball Sr's Daddy is?

Until recently, out of all the names I have been researching, I have only posted about the distant family surname Ball. See there is this really juicy mystery, well I find it juicy anyway, as to who is the father of Joseph Ball Sr. (born about 1783 in Franklin County Virginia.) was. This brick wall has stumped many over the years and I thought blogging about it might bring some of my fellow researchers together, maybe bring forth new information for those who are interested. Which it has and continues to do so. Now that I am combining two of my three blogs, I would like to start posting about the other surnames I find of interest. I was going to combine all three but that got to be way to stressful. Below is some quick clip art I whipped up for you to use on your surname post or genealogy scrap book.

Ruth Bracken Manning Moore age 94, of Wytheville, VA departed this world into her heavenly home on Thursday, December 17, 2009 in Twin Co. Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late I.W. Bracken and Myrtle Whisman Bracken. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Manning and father of her two children, her second husband, Henry Moore, foster son, Bill Bracken, five brothers, Frank, Edward, Richard, William Bracken, Everette Harden, a sister, Orvella Havens and is survived by: Two sons, Larry F. Manning & spouse Betty of Hillsville, VA; Jimmy Moore & spouse Sherry of Pulaski, VA; a daughter Peggy Manning & spouse Perry F. Phillips of High Point, NC; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers Fred Bracken and Herman Bracken & spouse Mary all of Wytheville; two special nieces Pat Jackson, Margaret Dix, both of Wytheville; a special nephew: Johnny Bracken & spouse Georgia of New Market, VA; special friend Jo Jean Coker, several other loving nieces, nephews and friends also survive. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother; great-great-grandmother and was everybody's friend.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Havens officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is in charge of arrangements.

How To Widen Main Blog Area

This morning I tried to post some Christmas clip art and dog-gone-it if my pictures were being cut off again. I couldn't figure out what the heck was going wrong (GRRRRRRRR)! I use Flickr for my image hosting and they have several sizes of your image to choose from, and the only one that would fit is the "small" image size and that just wouldn't do. If you are reading this post you've probably noticed by now I have resolved my hair pulling problem by widening my main/post blog area. I dont know what all the fuss was about , when its really easy to do with these super simple instructions I found over at GardenBloggers, by Goggle-ing " How to widen Blogger post Minima".

I have been busy wrapping Christmas goodies. These are going into the mail today. The red and white polka dot ribbon is actually from a vintage roll of salvage fabric my grandmother gave me. Maw maw had used these rolled strips in her quilts and I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with them. So they had been sitting collecting dust, until a few days ago when was scouring my craft stash for goodies to send to a couple of my talented and crafty friends, and I thought this would make lovely bows on my plain packages.

Maw Maw's Apple Butter With Red Hots

This past October my Mother, my Sister, and I along with close family friend Sheila, took all the Ball and Mason canning jars we owned and piled into my sisters van and headed to Wytheville County, Virginia to help can my Maw Maw's apple butter.

We arrived about 5:30 that evening and these were waiting on the front porch for us, courtesy of Uncle Bobby. Apparently the apples from Paw Paw's trees had started to turn to cider. Not good for making apple butter. The apple need to be fairly hard. We cut ten bushels total that evening and were at the cannery the next morning by 6:30 am.

Took the six of us over half the day to turn, 10 bushels of hard apples, 60 pounds of sugar, 3-2oz bottles of cinnamon oil, 4 pounds of cinnamon red hots candy and lots and lots of stirring, into 70 pints and 40 quarts.

We had dinner that night at my Grandparents, with my Aunties, and Uncles. My mother has 9 siblings.

Here is some of what I brought home from Paw Paw and Maw Maw's farm. Dont the pears look yummy! I wanted to can them but they ripened surprisingly quick, must be the Florida heat. According to Aunt Sue, you should can only very hard pears not soft ripe ones. Those green things in the basket are raw wallnuts.

I love it when my wonderful followers, whom I do so appreciate post comments. Until recently the only way for my readers to contact me was to post a comment. Fear of email harvesting spam bots finding it, and my email overflowing with spam has kept me from putting it on here. There is no full proof method to prevent email from being harvested and a Gmail account can be deleted and remade with a new address if they get through your precautions. 1810 Franklin County Virginia Census

Joseph Ball Sr. was 27 years old when the 1810 Census was taken, and still living where he was born in Franklin County, then The Commonwealth of Virginia. He was then married to his first wife Elizabeth Phillips Ball, and living next two his in laws, John Phillips and James Phillips. Elizabeth Phillips was still alive and is recorded to be over 45. Which I find a bit strange. She dies within the next two years because Joseph Ball Sr. marries my 6X Great Grandmother Catharine Comer Ball in 1812. Joseph and Elizabeth's oldest daughter Temperance 'Tempy' Ball was about 5 years old and their son was, name still unknown, was between 2 and 4 years of age, and Elizabeth was a newborn when this census was taken.

Joseph Ball Sr. VS. Willaim Sallyards

Great-Grandfather Joseph Ball Sr. sued Willaim Sallyards of West Virginia in 1816 for the sum of $45 dollars plus interest ($10 dollars damage). Below is the transcript, which is a bit confusing for me. From what I gather Jos Ball Sr. and Willaim Ward hired lawer Benjamn Wilson to sue Willaim Sallyards for a past due ninety day note. Sallyards couldnt make it to the first hearing, he said because couldn't make it safely to trial. I wonder what exactly was going on for it not to be "safe" to travel to his hearing. The War of 1812 was going on during this time and troubles with local Indians may have been a factor. The second hearing, he showed but said he couldn't locate witnesses to that he paid the debt in full . Sallyards was arrested and imprisoned until the case was brought before the Superior Court in Harrison County (West) Virginia

"-1816, Monogalia County Court. Willaim SALLYARDS sumoned to answer Benjamn WILSON, assignee of Willaim WARD, assignee of Joseph BALL, in a plea of debt for $45 and $10 damage, 13 June 1815. Ninety day note signed by Wm SALLYARDS to Joseph BALL dated 16 July 1813 for $45 and witnessed by John McCLINTOCK. Assignment to WARD dated 16 January 1815. Assignment to WILSON without recourse, 29 March 1815. Wm. SALLYARDS swore he could not safely go to trail which case Benjamin WILSON Jr., assignee of Jacob BRUMMAGE, is plaintiff because he made considerabe payment before notice of the assignment to WILSON and there is subsisting accounts between WILSON and himself and a large balance in his favor and Thos SWEARINGEN, the agent of WILSON has the books that contain the accounts and he refuses to let SALLYARDS see them. SALL-YARDS said he was unprepared to go to trail in another suit in the same court in which WILSON, assignee of William WARD assignee of Joseph BALL, is plaintiff and he, SALLYARDS, is defendant. In this case, he is unable to find the residence of the witnesses to the obligation, althought he has tried,and believes by these witnesses he can prove the whole of the debt is paid. He said he did not have receipts for the pay-ments but he hoped to have the testimony of these witnessesby May term, 4 March 1816. Appearance Bond signed by SALL-YARDS secured by Rawley SCOTT, 13 June 1815. Bail Bond for Willaim secured by Jonathan SALLYARDS and Rawley SCOTT, 6 October 1815. On 18 September, Harrison County Jailer, Thomas LYNOLD, received from Richard W. SMITH a certified copy of the Appearance Bond from Monogalia County in the case of Benjamin WILSON Jr. , assignee of Willaim WARD, assignee of Joseph BALL, for Willaim SALLYARDS. SMITH brought SALLYARDS to jail and discharged the bond and SALLYARDS remained in jail until time for Superior Court in Harrison County. May 1816 term, judgement for $45 with interest from 10 October 1813, Stephen MORGAN, forman "

The Video Of The Very Last Shuttle Night Launch "Discovery"

My son shot this great video from the top of the Dunlawton Bridge in Port Orange Florida. Awesome job Justin! Its kinda sad that there will never be another night launch. (NASA plans on discontinuing the shuttle program in 2010) Its a an aw inspiring thing to see. I don't think we have ever missed seeing one go off. I remember seeing them when the programme was first started. The shuttles would rocket right along the coast, the ground would shake, the sonic boom and always on a clear beautiful day. One sonic boom was so loud it shattered a sliding glass door window in our house, the door probably had a flaw in it. Toward the end of the video you can see three dots, the top dot is Discovery and the two bottom ones are the rocket boosters falling off.
